Karen Steward

Karen Steward was educated in Fine Art and Architecture at NTSU and UT San Antonio inadvertently leading her (via Los Angeles) into a 30 year career as an Art Director, Supervising Art Director and Production Designer in Film and Television, a path which allowed creative expansion, commitment and dedication to the field of film-making.

Some of her more known credits include “The Newsroom”, “Doctor Strange”, “TNMT-1”, “Olympus Has Fallen”, and “Veep”for HBO.

Along the way, she became alarmed and concerned about the wasteful nature of the Film Industry and aligned with her fathers’ Urban Planning Non-profit to begin a path of knowledge and understanding around sustainability, eventually focusing on the Film Industry, with a goal of easing the pressure on the Rain Forest due to the excessive use of Lauan in the Industry across the board for building sets.

In 2016 she created the informative FaceBook Page entitled “Film Industry Materials Exchange” as a resource-sharing site for Industry Sustainability outreach.

In 2018, Karen aligned with Green Spark Group and currently serves on their Advisory Board, and looks forward to becoming more focused on Sustainability Issues within the Industry worldwide.
