SPF: The Sustainable Production Forum

The Sustainable Production Forum is an annual global hybrid conference with the mission to connect people and stories, spark ideas, and advance sustainable practices.

Established in 2016 by Zena Harris, President of Green Spark Group, the Sustainable Production Forum was born to provide a setting and environment for leaders and advocates in the motion picture industry, to connect and share sustainability stories. With the incredible support of Creative BC, and host festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, SPF was off to a great start. In 2019, SPF made the leap on its own, and hosted a 2-day forum event at Emily Carr University. The result was more speakers, more partners, and some forward thinking ideas to spur action in sustainability. 2020 and 2021 were our pivot years stimulating the international expansion to new audiences. The push to decarbonize the arts and entertainment sector is a global effort that is accelerating.

SPF22 piloted its new local to global approach with in-person events in 3 cities, New York, Vancouver, and Toronto, with a complement of incredible speakers and a deep virtual content menu.

In March 2023, the Sustainable Entertainment Society was incorporated and became the new home of the The Sustainable Production Forum.

The Sustainable Entertainment Society, is a Canadian non-profit organization with the mission to accelerate sustainable development through culture, arts, and entertainment.
